Main Beach - December 2007

Lazing at the apartment
The Cyclonic Seaside...

Granny & Granda have a lovely apartment down at Main Beach which they very kindly lent out to us after Christmas. We had prepared ourselves for a week of sunny trips to the beach, walks in the park, visits to Dreamworld and lots of playing. We didn't exactly prepare ourselves for 6 days of cyclonic rain, which was what we actually got...

To be honest, the rain didn't really deter me from having a good time. Whilst I didn't get to build too many sandcastles, we had fun playing in Granny's apartment. Thankfully we'd brought a couple of rainy day activities with us (and had a quick trip to the shop to pick up Junior Scrabble) so we filled the time in pretty well. When there were brief sunny spells we headed out to the park or for a walk and mostly stayed dry.

We did get one sunny(ish) day and headed off to Dreamworld to see the sights. Uncle Joelie & Kate have very generously donated annual passes to us and so we can come and go as we please at Dreamworld, which makes life a lot easier than trying to get everything done on the one day. I particularly loved the vintage cars and, of course, the train ride around the park. Mama & Dada also took me to my first movie - an Imax presentation on Australia (which I promptly fell asleep in}.

We also visited the Strawberry Farm and I was all ready to pick a punnet of strawberries. There was no picking to be done though, so I had to be happy with feeding the farm animals and eating strawberry icecream - a tough call! In the end, I was quite glad to be going home - the rain had taken it's toll on me but really I just wanted to be back where my new toys were! Of course, as soon as we got home the rain moved here, but with new Thomas track that didn't seem to bother me very much.
